I Tracked Every Dollar for a Month and It Was Boring

Everyone online makes this sound like a transformation. It wasnt. It was mostly just annoying and then slightly useful.

Week one I wrote down everything and learned nothing except that I buy a lot of coffee, which I already knew. Week two I forgot twice and had to reconstruct it from my bank app, which defeats the point a bit.

the useful part came late

Around week three I noticed the thing that actually costs me isnt the small stuff everyone tells you about. Its the two or three medium purchases a month that I dont even think about because theyre not fun purchases, theyre errand purchases.

So no dramatic before and after. But I did cancel one thing and start noticing another. Thats probably what most of these actually look like when nobody is selling you a course at the end.
